Nature Increases Children’s Wellbeing

Do you take your kids out in nature? How about daily? I’ve known for some time the powerful effects nature can have, especially on children. If you have ever spent a few hours out of doors with your kids then I am sure you have seen it too. New research by the Institute of Education at UCL and ... VIEW POST

How To Get Started With A Nature Diary

While reading Home Education By Charlotte Mason the section on Nature Diaries came up. Honestly, when I read this passage I was beyond excited-I was thrilled. I love nature, my children love nature, we love our out of doors time and we love our nature walks. The idea of keeping a nature ... VIEW POST

Children Should Intimately Know Nature

It is 2009, I am taking college course pre-requisites while I wait for the nursing transition program to start in the fall. I am sitting in a sociology class listening to my professor tell a story about pollution and our environment. We all currently lived in an area where the locals jokingly ... VIEW POST

A Beginners Guide To Nature Study

My mother and her father (my grandfather) was a little bit of a naturalist. My mother use to take walks with me in the woods and share that her father use to do the same. He would know every name of every tree and they would talk about it as they went on. My mother would tell me of these stories and ... VIEW POST

Homeschooling When You Should Give Up

We had a plan when we first got married. My husband and I, a perfectly constructed well thought out-this life will be smooth and easy plan. College and career first, then add in some kids near the end of all that. You know, trying to make sure we were "established" before we had little ... VIEW POST

Living Science: A Monarch Nature Study

Last Spring/Summer we did a butterfly nature study. It was sweet, we purchased a popular butterfly grow kit off of amazon and observed painted ladies change from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies. In the process, my then four year old learned what "metamorphosis" means and the life cycle of ... VIEW POST

About Sarah

Just the name of my blog gives me away. Hi, There! I am Sarah Bliss, author of Holistic Homeschooler. I am happily married to the man of my dreams and together we raise two adorable children

We obviously homeschool and believe home education is more than academics.

I hold a personal philosophy that homeschooling is holistic and encompasses the whole child-body, mind, heart, spirit.

When I refer to the spirit, I mean the holy spirit. That ones own spirit needs daily nourishment from the word of God.

I  homeschool mainly using a Charlotte Mason Philosophy of Education. I absolutely love nature which is why the nature study aspect of Charlotte’s philosophy really speaks to me. We spend hours outside, on nature walks or the occasional hike.

Additionally, I have a burning desire to take our homeschool Journey on the road and share our travel adventures with anyone who will read or listen. Yet, this is a plan in progress so for now we are casually road-schooling.

Finally-I am a Registered Nurse, with the heart to spread educational information on health, wellness, and physical fitness.

I hope to be a source of encouragement and inspiration as we travel along this homeschool journey together.
