How To Get Started With A Nature Diary

While reading Home Education By Charlotte Mason the section on Nature Diaries came up. Honestly, when I read this passage I was beyond excited-I was thrilled. I love nature, my children love nature, we love our out of doors time and we love our nature walks. The idea of keeping a nature ... VIEW POST

Whole Child-Led Learning

When we think about educating our children, we tend to think only about the academic skills. But what about the rest of the child? What about their creativity, motor skills, contributing to the community, and exploring the world around them? When I ask parents what their “final destination” ... VIEW POST

What Is A Living Book?

This past spring I attended a homeschool conference to further educate myself on the many ways one can homeschool. Prior to the conference I stumbled upon the Simply Charlotte Mason website, which introduced me to Charlotte Mason's methods and I had read For The Children's Sake By Susan Macaulay. ... VIEW POST

A Charlotte Mason Inspired Lesson About Autumn

A Charlotte Mason Inspired Lesson About Autumn

We recently took a spontaneous field trip to a close friend's family farm. Fifty acres of pure beautiful nature which included a chestnut grove, apple orchard, pear orchard, and three ponds. I was in nature heaven. Oh, and so were the kids. In fact, the chestnut part was a bit of a surprise for ... VIEW POST

About Sarah

Just the name of my blog gives me away. Hi, There! I am Sarah Bliss, author of Holistic Homeschooler. I am happily married to the man of my dreams and together we raise two adorable children

We obviously homeschool and believe home education is more than academics.

I hold a personal philosophy that homeschooling is holistic and encompasses the whole child-body, mind, heart, spirit.

When I refer to the spirit, I mean the holy spirit. That ones own spirit needs daily nourishment from the word of God.

I  homeschool mainly using a Charlotte Mason Philosophy of Education. I absolutely love nature which is why the nature study aspect of Charlotte’s philosophy really speaks to me. We spend hours outside, on nature walks or the occasional hike.

Additionally, I have a burning desire to take our homeschool Journey on the road and share our travel adventures with anyone who will read or listen. Yet, this is a plan in progress so for now we are casually road-schooling.

Finally-I am a Registered Nurse, with the heart to spread educational information on health, wellness, and physical fitness.

I hope to be a source of encouragement and inspiration as we travel along this homeschool journey together.
