A Beginners Guide To Nature Study

My mother and her father (my grandfather) was a little bit of a naturalist. My mother use to take walks with me in the woods and share that her father use to do the same. He would know every name of every tree and they would talk about it as they went on. My mother would tell me of these stories and ... VIEW POST

Cultivating a Homeschool that Prioritizes Relationships

When I think about what I want my homeschool to look like as my young kids get older, I think of reading aloud, singing hymns and folk songs, looking at beautiful art, and taking nature walks. But beyond the things I want to do, I also think about how I want my homeschool to feel. I want my kids to ... VIEW POST

The Gift Of Narration

The Gift Of Narration

Are you familiar with narration? Not sure? Most likely, if you have ever had a child excitedly come tell you something they have seen, then you have experienced narration. My children do this all the time and I must confess, I don’t always give their story telling the attention it deserves. We ... VIEW POST

Our Charlotte Mason Morning Basket

This year we are using A Gentle Feast which is based off of a Charlotte Mason philosophy of education. A Gentle Feast has been wonderful so far but as I planned out our first 6 weeks I decided that I wanted to incorporate a morning basket. Reading Review: 100 Gentle Lessons

Summer is here, many of us are enjoying the lovely weather all while sprinkling the sunny season with summer lessons. At least that is what we have been doing, a butterfly nature study (video preview here) and soon reading a few living books from A Gentle Feast's Summer Morning Time Packet. Since ... VIEW POST

About Sarah

Just the name of my blog gives me away. Hi, There! I am Sarah Bliss, author of Holistic Homeschooler. I am happily married to the man of my dreams and together we raise two adorable children

We obviously homeschool and believe home education is more than academics.

I hold a personal philosophy that homeschooling is holistic and encompasses the whole child-body, mind, heart, spirit.

When I refer to the spirit, I mean the holy spirit. That ones own spirit needs daily nourishment from the word of God.

I  homeschool mainly using a Charlotte Mason Philosophy of Education. I absolutely love nature which is why the nature study aspect of Charlotte’s philosophy really speaks to me. We spend hours outside, on nature walks or the occasional hike.

Additionally, I have a burning desire to take our homeschool Journey on the road and share our travel adventures with anyone who will read or listen. Yet, this is a plan in progress so for now we are casually road-schooling.

Finally-I am a Registered Nurse, with the heart to spread educational information on health, wellness, and physical fitness.

I hope to be a source of encouragement and inspiration as we travel along this homeschool journey together.
