A Quick Lesson On The Calendar

I can recall from my own childhood how I learned the months and days of the week. I still remember the melody to this day. Singing has always been a great way to teach young children simple things, like the days of the week or the months.

Below is a quick video on how Averie learned the days of the week and the months. Feel free to use it for your own young children.

I combined the visual and auditory Learning in one easy lesson. You can find calendars such as mine on amazon. I bought mine from Joanne fabrics and used one of the many 50% off coupons they often offer. I paid roughly $5.50 for the whole set.

Averie loves playing “teacher” so this was a fun way for her to show off what she learned. Added bonus-it may help you. I am considering doing a calendar printable, do you think this is something you would want for your homeschool?

About Sarah

Just the name of my blog gives me away. Hi, There! I am Sarah Bliss, author of Holistic Homeschooler. I am happily married to the man of my dreams and together we raise two adorable children

We obviously homeschool and believe home education is more than academics.

I hold a personal philosophy that homeschooling is holistic and encompasses the whole child-body, mind, heart, spirit.

When I refer to the spirit, I mean the holy spirit. That ones own spirit needs daily nourishment from the word of God.

I  homeschool mainly using a Charlotte Mason Philosophy of Education. I absolutely love nature which is why the nature study aspect of Charlotte’s philosophy really speaks to me. We spend hours outside, on nature walks or the occasional hike.

Additionally, I have a burning desire to take our homeschool Journey on the road and share our travel adventures with anyone who will read or listen. Yet, this is a plan in progress so for now we are casually road-schooling.

Finally-I am a Registered Nurse, with the heart to spread educational information on health, wellness, and physical fitness.

I hope to be a source of encouragement and inspiration as we travel along this homeschool journey together.

My oldest started her next level/form/grade the first week of August. We took a week off when we went to see the Columbus ships plus Thanksgiving break. Now it’s Christmas month and we are halfway through term 2 so I say it’s a great time to celebrate advent. Maybe leisurely do some of the cores like math and reading lessons. Otherwise, the focus has become a peaceful advent. What are you doing? Are you cuddled up watching Christmas movies or how about a good Christmas book? Have you read the sparkle box? 🤩
