It is Christmas time once again and instead of participating in what has become a overly materialistic holiday, in our home I’m trying to ensure it is one of a Christ like atomosphere. A few of these stories are a representation of the story of the infant Jesus, many have a Christian theme, some a sprinkling of Santa Clause and others are a heart warming story.
Each morning leading up to Christmas Day, we are reading from one of these twenty one living books. If your wondering what living books are or wish to see the criteria I use to determine living books, you can read that here. (Click grey link) I love Christmas and I want my children to also have a deep love for the true meaning of Christmas. These twenty-one living books are truly a Charlotte Mason feast for advent.

We already started reading from our list, An Orange For Frankie and The Little Match Girl are tear jerkers- if your sensitive (like my daughter and I) I would skip The Little Match Girl, unless you like crying. Room For A Little One comes as a toddler board book, perfect for my little guy. Do you have anything to add to this list? Do you have a favorite Christmas living book?
We like A Baker’s Dozen. Thank you for this list!

One you don’t have listed is “A tree for Peter”. It’s such an inspiring story.
