I asked my readers what they would like for a printable and a herb nature study was the most frequent response. It did take me a little while but I finally put it together. I found some great living books and a medicinal indoor starter kit that will go nicely with it.

Herb Nature Study
It seems a little out of season to start a herb Nature Study with winter right around the corner. This is something that could wait until you can keep an outdoor garden. However, I did think it would be nice to have a little bit of fresh herbs for cooking and hot teas for the upcoming cold season. This Non GMO Herb Garden Kit is specifically for growing on your window sill and perfect for a indoor herb garden.
What is in the Herb Nature Study?
This Herb Nature Study is influenced by a Charlotte Mason philosophy and includes:
- Herb poem for reciting
- herb anatomy sheet
- purple basil life cycle
- herb medicinal uses
- visual narration
- written/oral narration
- Herb identification, common & scientific name labeling
- An herb handicraft
If you’re unfamiliar with narrations try prompting your child on what they have learned about herbs. For the younger children (like my 6 yr old) they can provide a brief oral narration of what they have learned and you simply write it for them.
