Earlier this summer we went to Michigan’s Lavendar Festival. It was a nice outing for the family, it offered dancing, music, and crafts galore. It was like walking into Etsy. Quite literally, a women actually had a old fashioned gypsie caravan. She set up a whimsical themed fairy garden in the entire thing and allowed customers to walk through it for a small donation. She also had on display homemade bubble wands and the big bubble mixture to go with it.
I love making big bubbles with the kids and it was a great experience for us all. Since then, I’ve been trying to recreate it and I think I’ve gotten it figured out. If you want to make homemade bubble wands that make massive bubbles and the bubble solution to go with it, then this tutorial is for you.
You will need:
- Pipe Cleaners
- 1/4 inch diameter dowel rod
- Scotch Masking Tape
This was a little complicated to explain so I put together a quick video tutorial click below to view.
For the bubble mixture you will need:
- 1 cup dawn dish soap
- 14 cups of water
- 1/8-1/4 cup of xanthan gum
Mix all of your ingredients together and pour it in a flat dish for bubble wand dipping. I’ve paired this craft with this book:
My daugbter Averie loves this activity and through the whole experience she imagined riding bubbles. In her magical world she was riding her bubbles through earths atmosphere into outer space. She’s fascinated about the solar system and this is one way she plans to get there apparently. 😉
I hope you enjoyed this quick guide, happy bubble making!
